Faculty Training Program Scholarships

Five-day training held each May at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for faculty of Texas professional nursing programs. Includes observational clinical experiences in inpatient/outpatient settings. More information.

Free Online CNE

Quick and easy registration. Faculty may direct students to appropriate programs online and have them turn in printable certificates in class. Courses include pain management, tobacco cessation, end of life care, and cancer-specific updates.

Conference Discounts for Students

Low-cost CNE conferences for nurses in all fields of practice across Texas are often appropriate for students. Topics include pain management, palliative care, and cancer prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship. Check the event calendar.

Internship Opportunities

NOEP offers semester-long, non-paid internships to students interested in gaining experience in a nonprofit setting. Interns work directly with NOEP team members in: Administration, Marketing & Communications, and Program Evaluation. Undergraduate and graduate level students, as well as recent graduates, are eligible to apply.

Internship applicants must:
  • Have an interest in learning about the workings of a non-profit organization
  • Be available to work 10-20 hours per week at the NOEP office in Austin, Texas
  • Be able to provide their own housing and transportation
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, as well as competency with the Internet and e-mail

Presentation Packages from the American Cancer Society

Topics include risk factors, prevention, and early detection for major cancer sites. The abridged versions provide a less detailed overview of each subject that could be presented in about 20 minutes.
