Learning Objectives:
The learning goal/purpose of this educational activity is:
To help registered nurses working in primary care settings advance their knowledge of cervical cancer. The nurse will take back to practice an updated knowledge of cervical cancer risk factors, screening guidelines, treatment options and aspects of survivorship necessary to educate their patients and empower them with knowledge regarding their healthcare.
The objectives of this education activity are:
- Describe cervical cancer incidence and epidemiology.
- Discuss the role of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in preventing HPV infection and subsequent development of cervical cancer.
- Define the risk factors and screening guidelines for cervical cancer.
- Identify the signs and symptoms of cervical cancer.
- Describe treatment options in the management of cervical cancer.
- Discuss survivorship concerns specific to the cervical cancer patient.
