Nursewise: Tobacco Cessation, Nutrition and Physical Activity

Texas Nurses Association/Foundation Provider Unit is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

After a recent Nursewise conference,

• 96% of attendees reported they will utilize the 5A’s (Ask, Advise, Assess, Assist, Arrange) evidence-based method in providing tobacco cessation counseling;

• 100% will educate patients about the risk of disease and premature death from tobacco use;

• 96% will assess the diet, weight and physical activity routine of patients in their own care; and

• 96% will suggest ways in which patients can incorporate nutrition and physical activity behavior.
